Patients who have suffered from a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury, stroke, brain tumor or an infection of the brain, such as Valley Fever will be cared for by specialists in their field in the most appropriate setting.

The highly specialized unit will include amenities that promote healing and comfort for both patients and their loved ones. The cost of the renovation of the Neuro Intensive Care Unit has been funded by the Kern Medical Foundation.

Trauma Center

Ambulance driving down road at night.Kern Medical operates the only Trauma Center between Los Angeles and Fresno. For Kern County residents, it's an assurance that we are always here for you ready to provide the highest level of care for you and your loved ones if you need us.

Unlike the typical emergency department, our Level II Trauma Center has specialists to treat serious life-threatening injuries 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Having the trauma team available and constantly ready to respond can be the difference between life and death for critically injured patients.

Though we are the most capable hospital in the area to handle traumas, we are just as committed to preventing them. Kern Medical takes a leadership role in injury prevention with member agencies throughout our County.

Trauma Center's require highly specialized equipment to care for a variety of injuries. The support of our local community support will allow Kern Medical to provide the most state-of-the-art equipment and technology available.
